The Murdoch Branch of the Wildflower Society WA and Stop the Banksia Road Sand Mines campaign are once again collaborating for a guided walk of the special Banksia Road Conservation Reserve. Please join us to learn about the flora and fauna, its ecological significance in Wellard East and the threat of proposed sand mining.

Difficulty: Moderate – long walk in deep sands. Not appropriate for prams. Please bring water and sun protection.
Murdoch Branch of the Wildflower Society WA works as a committed group of volunteers to “enjoy, know, grow and conserve” our unique WA wildflowers. The Branch holds meetings on a monthly basis with interesting speakers, runs wildflower walks for the public and works with other community groups to conserve native bushland from developments.
Stop the Banksia Road Sand Mines campaign is run entirely by local residents who understand the environmental and social significance of the Banksia Road site; maintained as a Conservation Reserve by the City of Kwinina. The reserve is currently fenced which helps preserve the excellent condition of the endangered Banksia woodland contained within. The fence also helps prevent environmental vandalism, illegal dumping, and provides a necessary sanctuary for endangered species given the current rates of decline of both flora and fauna.
